Nano Ganesh

Nano Ganesh is fascinating technology innovation addressing the pains of rural/agro population directly.

As the name doesn’t suggest, it is actually a modem (hardware device) that controls the starter of the pumpset and it just costs between 500 to 1700 INR. Just by making a simple mobile/ land line voice call, farmers can trigger their pumpset to switch it on/off, check the sufficient power supply etc. hence handling their pumpsets remotely from anywhere.

One farmer from AP (Narendra) created a device that enables him to control his water pump remotely via his handset, an idea that has been developed commercially (Santosh Ostwal) with the emergence of a device called the Nano Ganesh which can be used in conjunction with the simplest phones.

Nano Ganesh is example of great technology innovation suitable for Indian agro needs.

I am hoping that Nano Ganesh will be Shri Ganesha of such much more innovations for Indian grass root /agro /ruaral needs. (While chanting “Shri Ganesh” in Hindu mythology symbolizes for a safe and happy beginning, Nano Ganesh will symbolize for the safe and happy maintenance).

There are great technologies available we need just innovators like Santosh,Narendra…and that will take India to new heights. Empowering grass root Indian masses through technological innovations is needed.

More details @ Nano Ganesh from  www.nanoganesh.com/

Nano Ganesh is a GSM Mobile based remote control system exclusively for the use with water pump sets in agriculture areas. The need of Nano Ganesh arised from the routine problems  faced by the farmers in operating the pumps. They are, fluctuations in power supply, difficult  terrain, fear of animals on the way to pumps, hazardous locations of the pumps along the river or water storage beds, shock hazards, rains etc.

With the help of Nano Ganesh Mobile Modem :

  • A farmer can control the pumps from any distance.
  • He can check an availability of power supply at the pump end.
  • He can acknowledge the on / off status of the water pump.
  • In some models, a farmer gets an alert call if there is a theft attempt of the cable or
    pump.

Operation :

A Nano Ganesh Instument is connected to the existing starter. A farmer has to simply dial a
number dedicated for a Nano Ganesh set and then punch his on or off code for the control of the
pump set. It can be connected to any existing electrical starter and motor pumps. Hence, there is no necessity of replacing the pumping set. For higher H.P pumps, it can be connected along with the protection systems.

Features :

  • Water pump can be controlled from any distance by a mobile or land line phone.
  • A mobile network is essential near the water pumps.
  • One can check availability of the power supply at the pump end.
  • One can check the load on / off status by a simple audio tone.
  • Automatic Mode / Remote Mode Available.
  • Provision of memory for storing the on and off commands.

Great job Mr. Santosh Ostwal and I hope that more and more farmers take use of this device. With the incresed use of mobile in rural technology this will be very easy transition for farmers.

Being from a farming background I can see the immense benefit Nano Ganesh brings to rural Indian farmers.

We need more and more engineers, young minds to work towards rural automation. I remember while  in college I had idea of automated irrigation system. During second year of engineering we had formed a group called Faith India. I was just searching after many years and yes still we have live link  http://www.faithindia.netfirms.com/index.htm.

We had idea of developing automated irrigation system. Where we will have soil moisture tester. According to the readings for specific crop ; the signal will be send to pump; switching if irrigation in that part of farm is necessary. And hence automatic irrigation of farm can be achieved.  With the Nano Ganesh I am getting motivation to go back to my college day ideas and work on them.

A wonderful innovation. I believe, such innovations do happen in different parts of India. And I recall watching on TV, government recognizing such innovative people like farmers, and appreciating their innovations and efforts through awards.

I am Santosh Ostwal, wanting to put facts before the world. Nano Ganesh is the simplest technolgy and its basic electronics design is also very simple. But, why it has got international award from NOKIA? Just because, the history is that innovations are always simple, but they get recognitions from the world when they are proven in the field. Nano Ganesh is proven in the field in hazardous areas of wet & mudyy soil, all weather outdoor conditions, animals , shock prone areas and most imp. an illiterate class of user.

I am observing that there are many mails to me @ not aware about rural things at all. BUt, they want to do something for the rural class. Yes! That is why I am telling that please go to the farmers. They are really in the need of a good and modern technology. But, we have to prove among them that we are genuinely working for them. If it happens, I assure you that the rural market is like an ocean. It is only the market which has been stable in spite of recession all over the world.
